People With Disabilities
|
Shoreline Metro welcomes individuals with disabilities and provides two types of transportation in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): accessible fixed route service and specialized transportation service, Metro Connection. Accessible Fixed Route Bus Service Many Shoreline Metro buses are accessible. Seating and/or space for up to two mobility devices is reserved near the entrance door. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires public transportation programs to service those individuals in a mobility device if the lift and vehicle can physically accommodate the passenger. If accommodations become inconsistent with legitimate safety requirements, the ADA does not guarantee your trip. This clause is observed by all specialized and non-specialized transportation services provided by Shoreline Metro. The new passenger friendly "low-floor" bus design uses a ramp for an accessible entrance. All buses "kneel" to lower the entrance step. Here are some things that you should know about our fixed route services:
Tips For Riding:
- Stay back from the bus until the ramp is fully deployed.
- We recommend entering the bus on the ramp in a forward direction.
- Wait for the driver to prepare space before maneuvering your mobility device into place.
- Set brakes and allow driver to fasten securement belts and safety belts.
- To exit, ring the chime prior to your stop.
- Please adhere to the wheelchair securement policy.
- Service animals are allowed on transit buses to assist persons with disabilities.
